Homeschooling is a journey filled with joy, discovery, and—let’s be honest—a fair amount of paperwork. For years, I juggled notebooks, spreadsheets, sticky notes, and late-night re-writes just to keep track of what we’d done that day. Did we finish the math lesson? Did we spend enough time on history? Was I going to get in trouble for skipping spelling so we could dive deeper into the Renaissance?
Like many parents, I wanted to spend more time teaching and less time documenting. Yet none of the planners or apps I tried seemed to fit the way real homeschool families actually work. Every family I knew had cobbled together their own system—whiteboards, binders, scraps of paper—because the online tools felt more like classroom lesson plans than home education.
That’s why we started Scholar’s Forge: to create tools that help parents enjoy teaching their kids without the constant stress of record-keeping. Our first product, the Scholar’s Forge Planner, is being designed to:
-
Make planning quick and flexible—whether from a favorite book, a time-based activity, or a one-off project.
-
Adapt schedules easily when life (inevitably) changes course.
-
Provide clear progress tracking and evidence, so you always know where you stand.
-
Give you confidence that you’re “doing it right,” while freeing you to enjoy the learning moments that really matter.
We’re just getting started, but our hope is that Scholar’s Forge will become a supportive tool and community for homeschooling families everywhere. This blog will be where we share updates, lessons learned, and stories along the way.
Thank you for being here at the beginning—we can’t wait to hear your thoughts as we forge ahead together.
—The Scholar’s Forge Team
